Why We Built This Site
Minnesota gives the public broad access to many court records, but Freeborn County users still need to know which office holds the file. Freeborn County District Court handles civil, family, probate, juvenile, criminal, and traffic cases through Minnesota's unified District Court system. Court Administrator Rebecca S. Mittag and the court administration office handle local court-copy and certified-record questions at the courthouse in Albert Lea.
Other records follow different paths. The Freeborn County Sheriff and Adult Detention Center handle jail and law-enforcement records, the County Attorney handles prosecution records and charging decisions, the Recorder handles marriage records and land-record access, and state systems such as BCA, DOC, DVS, and MCRO handle statewide searches. Bringing those paths together reduces wrong turns between offices that share the same Government Center address but do not provide the same records.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any Minnesota court, Freeborn County office, sheriff's office, prosecutor, recorder, federal court, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any court document, marriage record, divorce decree, or vital record
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, address, court calendar item, or access rule listed here is current at the moment you use it
Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. Freeborn County court records that need certification must come from court administration.
Search Partners
Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies set their own pricing and run their own services. When you use one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep this reference available to visitors. We do not control what those tools charge, what appears in their results, or whether their data matches an official Freeborn County or Minnesota record.
